Exceptional Learners

Hey,

I think one of the biggest challenges for me is going to be working with children with learning disabilities. The challenge would be finding what is suitable for exceptional learners and how do I customize their learning for them. I have beeen around exceptional learners before and kind of have an idea of how they communicate with others, however, I still find it not so neccesarily challenging but intriguing. The last course I took was Exceptional Learners and learned so much about them and I find it so interesting. I look forward to working with them in the future!

Education Goals

Hey,

Where can you seen yourself in 5 years from now? I had to ask myself this question before enrolling myself into this program. I had a vision, so to speak, of being in a classroom, teaching kids. If I could see it, I could be it! Thats my rule of thumb when choosing my educational goals. I will never quit, because quitters never win and winners never quit!

Group Presentations

Hey,

I think everyone has the same thing in mind when doing group presentations! We hate them! Is there a need for them? Definately, yes! It teaches us how to develop speaking and communication skills. I have to say that they are certainly growing on me! I can now see the need for them. For me, its a collaborative thing that teaches me to better communicate my ideas with my group members, therefore, enhancing my communication skills. When you put the time into presentations you get what you put in and that is usually a good mark! It makes it easier for us using the teleconferencing method because no one really sees us they can only hear us, less stress for me!

See ya soon!

Internet Predators!

Hey,

I was watching a show on internet predators, I gotta say its pretty scarey! Sometimes, we tend to be nieve when its comes to predators, we never think it will happen to us! Then 'us' becomes you and its ends up happening to you when you least expect it! I watched a show where young kids where stripping in front of their computers because these 'monsters' where paying them to do so. How does this happen! Shouldn't our kids know better? Shouldn't we teach them better? Doesn't parents teach their children about internet predators? Educate, educate and educate! This is my philosophy!

Just thought I would share that with you, it was on my mind. If I could prevent one person from getting hurt, its well worth it!

BRB,
Mindy

Lesson Plans

Hey Everybody,

The importance of lesson plans and why we need them? Lesson plans give a structured plan to instructing a specific lesson. Does this make sense! Yes, it does. Its a break down of time and specific details that is instructed in a chronalogical order, in a 'step by step' fashion. A poor teacher will go through slides of a smartboard, read the instruction, and expect the students to comply. A good teacher, reads each slide, instructs and interacts with the students, assessing their knowledge, input, and feedback. Its a way to manage your time within each period of instruction. We'll all have to do them as future school teachers, however, they can be time-consuming and technical. Thats my thoughts for now on lesson plans, thats because I'm severly tired!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Importance of Education

Hey Everybody,

How do you teach your children the "Importance of Education"? I think you teach them through positive reinforcement, positive parenting, and by example. I did not become a university student until later in my own life but I always stipulated the importance of education. I told my olderst child, who is fifteen, that education will literally 'open doors' for you, will allow you to market yourself in an ever changing and challenging world. Being a First Nations person, in my opinion, some people will not look on this as a positive, if you will, but being an educated First Nations person allows for you to intelligently fight for what your rights as a human being and as a First Nations person. Being a strong First Nations person is something I believe in and I hope that others do as well. Education is at the top of my list of goals I want to achieve. With support and committment this goal will be achieved sooner than later.

Its been awhile

Hey Everybody,

On Wednesday night, this was probably one of the most productive education sessions I have had for some time. We got a lesson in smartboards. They are so versatile but yet so easy to use. I find them so interesting. The lesson will certainly come in handy for 'us' school teachers, when its time. My husband is a school teacher, he gave us a crash course in smart boards. Judson is the biggest resource I have access to for the education program. I certainly don't know what I would do without him. He was kind enough to come to class on Wednesday to teach not only myself but my fellow students.

Education is constantly evolving. Technology is at the forefront of education, this is a tool in teaching today's kids because our children are constantly evolving, as well. We have to adjust to the changing world of technology, with education being the focus.

I finally got into my blog

Hey Everybody,

Smartboards!!!!!!!!!!! What a wonderful creation, invention, idea, etc...........! As future school teachers this is a form of technology that will be a must to learn, therefore, I think now is better than ever. Smartboards are like huge computers in the classroom that can teach the many different facets of specific lessons with diagrams, videos, notes, . I can't say enough about them. I find them so fascinating. They are an enormous and helpful resource in teaching our children technology in 21st century.

My opinions!!!!!!!!!!

Hey Everybody,

I'm finding it somewhat challenging to get on track with school. I have to be more studious when it comes to my responsibility to my education. Having children, sometimes gets in the way of that responsibility. Don't get me wrong! I Love School! It gives me a purpose and something that I look forward to. I hope that everyone is doing well. I look forward to reading blogs from my fellow bloggers.

Challenging Stuff!

Hey Everybody,

I find this a little challenging, however, I am 'up for the challenge'. My name is Mindy. I am a mother of 2 and just recently got married. Now, there's a challenge! LOL!!!!!!!!!! I love school and the whole concept of learning. For so many years, I was pretty much nil and void when it came to education, however, I now love it. I have a huge family, 4 brothers and 5 sisters. I love coming from a big family, there is always a shoulder to 'lean on'. My father just recently passed away and my mother is quite ill but if this is Gog's will then I can respect that. Sorry, to get so 'mushy'. Even though, this may seem challening, it is something that has to be learned. We are now living in a techno world where the world is communicating via computers. I look forward to meeting all my fellow bloggers.

Chow for now
